It’s always time to ski! And the first step to making the most of your ski trip is choosing the ideal destination. The arrival of snow marks the beginning of the season, when ski resorts, hotels and stations open their doors to welcome those who love winter sports.

From June to October, head to the Southern Hemisphere for destinations such as Bariloche and Ushuaia, in Argentina, and Portillo and Valle Nevado, in Chile. Between December and April, the resorts in the Northern Hemisphere accumulate snow and welcome skiers. Aspen and Snowmass, in the United States, Courchevel, in France, and St Moritz, in Switzerland, are some of the most famous, but the options are more varied than you might imagine.

The resorts have ski schools with experienced instructors who give private or group lessons for adults and children, from beginners to advanced skiers. And each destination has a range of snow activities beyond skiing, like hiking, snowbike trails, tubing, cross-country skiing and snowmobile tours. After an action-packed day on the slopes, it’s time for a delicious après-ski to relax with a drink or hot chocolate.

Besides the mountains, there are restaurants, bars, art galleries and shops to visit. Some resorts are especially attractive to families because they offer a full range of activities for children and teenagers.
