Tignes

Club Med

In the heart of the Vanoise National Park, Tignes has one of the largest ski areas in Europe thanks to its union with the charming neighboring Val D’Isere – and forms the Tignes-Val D’Isere station – stretching over 300 km of slopes in the peak of the season. Eccentric, cosmopolitan, sporty and innovative, Tignes offers the opportunity to experience the mountains in a different way. Whether you are a big fan of skiing, or a family traveller, Tignes has everything you need for the perfect ski trip. Separated into five distinct villages – Les Brevieres, Tignes 1800, Lavachet, Lac Tignes and Val Claret – they mix what is most original and traditional in the city, with modernity, great restaurants, parties that go on into the night and many, many attractions besides skiing. Anyone who likes to venture out and discover new things will love Tignes: from diving into the frozen lake, to extreme jumps on the Bun J Ride platform, descents on ramps with Expedition Cobra sleds, paragliding or ultralight flights, dog sledge, bungee- trampolining… finally, those who enjoy outdoor sports will find that Tignes is where everything happens. Nor is the scenery far behind: combining frozen lakes, glaciers and legendary peaks, everyone finds full leisure in the heart of this untouched natural resort, whether enjoying the difference in altitude, watching elegant alpine goats – or ibex – or simply savoring a specialty of cheese in a refuge, which is accessible from the center of the resort.

GASTRONOMY

On a trip to Tignes, you have the opportunity to experience the cuisine of the French Alps, which features a wide range of delicious dishes. Between one ski adventure and the next, choose one of the mountain restaurants with panoramic views of the peaks. Favorites include the Michelin-starred restaurants Ursus and Le Panoramic.

WHAT TO DO BESIDES SKIING

In addition to traditional skiing and snowboarding, you can practice many other winter sports in Tignes, such as skating on an outdoor ice rink and sledding down the mountains, or even doing something more extreme, such as paragliding over snowy peaks.

ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN

With a wide range of children's areas, Tignes-Val d'Isère is the ideal destination for children to try out traditional winter sports. In the best resorts in the region, such as those of the Club Med chain, there are ski lessons included in the package for children aged 4 and over, as well as snowboard lessons for the older ones. In addition, ice skating, tobogganing or snow sledding as a family is a great way to create unforgettable moments.

NIGHT LIFE

Tignes après-ski is not far behind. After a day of activities in the snow, fun takes over the many bars and nightclubs in the station. The famous La Folie Douce can be heard a kilometer away, pounding in the valleys between Tignes and Val d’Isere. At the top of the mountain, the party starts every afternoon around 3 pm. Another good option to enjoy après-ski is the Loop Bar, in Le Lac, where happy hour with live music takes place between 4 pm and 6 pm, with a stunning view of the sunset as a bonus.
