Kicking Horse is a study in contrasts between the quiet little village of Golden where it is located and the adrenaline that courses along its ski runs. Fifteen years have passed since its first ski lifts opened, transforming what was then a local hill into an internationally renowned ski destination that challenges skiers, snowboarder and inspires the rest. Consecrated as the Champagne Powder capital of Canada, Kicking Horse has some of the best snow conditions in the world. With advanced runs making up over 70% of its slopes, and 85 narrow passages through the trees, it is an advanced skier’s paradise that is also equipped for beginners and children. The ski school offers on-site lessons for kids 3 and up. Breathtaking views of the surrounding national parks and the two mountains that form the resort make the experience at the destination picture-perfect.

For advanced skiers, Kicking Horse is a paradise for those in search of vast and varied terrain off-piste. Having the services of an experienced instructor and guide to take you through the Big Mountain Center is the perfect way to access the best descents. Beginner adults are also invited to take advantage of the guides to explore the mountains.
THE LARGEST VERTICAL DESCENT IN CANADA
Kicking Horse has the steepest descent in Canada, and the fifth-longest in North America, with 1314 meters (4314 feet) of vertical decline, 3486 acres of skiable terrain and plenty of Champagne Powder snow.
THE HIGHEST RESTAURANT IN CANADA
The top of the Eagle's Eye Gondola is considered the jewel of Kicking Horse: a unique dining experience in Canada’s tallest restaurant. Situated at an altitude of 2,345m (7,700 ft), the star-studded Eagle’s Eye restaurant offers breathtaking views of the five surrounding national parks while you savor the chef’s irresistible, locally-sourced creations. It’s also a great choice for snacks and a lively Après-ski.
WHAT TO DO BEYOND SKIING
To further explore the mountain, cross country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing are some of the most sought-after activities in the region. Tubing and ice skating are great options for family fun, while the more adventurous can venture into heliskiing and cat skiing.
