In the village: The resort is home to three Michelin-starred restaurants: Chesery, with cheese-based dishes, Megu, with Japanese cuisine, and Sommet, which mixes influences from different cuisines to create modern dishes. To taste some of the local cuisine, a good option is La Fromagerie. On the mountain: Amazement and well-being are just two of the many feelings that Martin Bieri conveys with his extraordinary gourmet dishes. The restaurant exclusively serves a menu where you can choose the number of dishes. Located between the peaks of Les Diablerets, at an altitude of over 3,000 meters, Refuge L'Espace has the most impressive view of the Alps.
WHAT TO DO BEYOND SKIING
In addition to the skating rinks and sledding tracks, Gstaad is famous for horse-drawn carriage rides and winter bikes, an activity that is growing in the region. If you prefer to see the snowy scenery from above, there are schools that organize unforgettable paragliding flights. It is also worth taking the time to go on a day trip to the Cailler chocolate factory or to the small town of Gruyères, where the most famous Swiss cheese comes from. The most unmissable tour in the region is certainly Glacier 3000, labelled because of its location at an altitude of three thousand meters.
ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS
The Snowli Kids Club welcomes children aged 3 and over for ski lessons and outdoor games with mascots. Lovell Camps is a winter camp for children and teenagers, in addition to having a kid’s club. The WildSide by Playground Snowpark, dedicated to freestyle, also has a track for the little ones to do their tricks. For sleigh descents, there are six options: Hornberg, Saanersloch, Honerggli, Wispile, Eggli and Sparenmoos. There are also three ice skating rinks: the natural Sannenmöser and the artificial Gstaad Ice Rink and Park Gstaad.
SHOPPING
Exclusive for pedestrians, the center of Gstaad has a series of small shops selling products from the farm, such as cheeses and sausages. For designer stores, the tip is to stroll along the Promenade, which houses elegant designer stores such as Louis Vuitton, Prada and Ralph Lauren.
NIGHT LIFE
Gstaad has lively options for enjoying après-ski. A classic at the station, GreenGo still preserves a decor inspired by the 1970s and is lively until dawn. The Lobby Bar is the center of social life in Gstaad, with stunning views of the Bernese Alps. In the lobby bar, people gather for afternoon tea, mulled wine, champagne and cocktails to live piano music.
